One of the most trusted Apple commentators on the scene has weighed in on what to expect from the rumored iPhone SE (2022) launching next week.

Ahead of the March 8 “Peak Performance” launch event, noted tech industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has made his informed predictions, and they’re largely in line with what we’ve heard from other tipsters so far.

In his very first tweet, Kuo says no less that the device is powered by the Apple A15 Bionic Processor, the same chip found in the iPhone 13. However, the clock speed may be slightly slower.

The analyst believes that, as expected, 5G connectivity will be a key part of the proposal, supporting both mmWave and sub-6GHz frequencies. This is the first time an SE model offers 5G connectivity as the iPhone SE (2020) version relied on LTE. It also predicts a maximum storage of 256 GB, while 64 GB and 128 GB models will also be available.

Some predictions for the upcoming new iPhone SE:
1. Mass production on March 22.
2. Estimated shipments of 25-30 million units in 2022.
3. Storage: 64/128/256GB.
4. A15 & 5G support (mmW & Sub-6 GHz).
5. Casing: white, black and red.
6. Similar form factor design to the current SE.

Kuo says the phone will be available in white, black and red housings, but will retain a “similar” form factor to the existing model based on the iPhone 8. The word similar is interesting because it leaves some room for iterative improvements.

As for production, Kuo believes the new phone will be mass-produced this month, with the company expecting to sell up to 30 million units by the end of the year.

If you were hoping for a major upgrade to the iPhone SE 3, iPhone SE 5G, or iPhone SE Plus — whatever it’s called — you’re probably going to be a little disappointed. Rumors that the iPhone SE 5G might cost $100 less than its predecessor would probably cheer up many people waiting for an upgrade.

We’ll be covering full coverage of next Tuesday’s launch event here at Trusted Reviews, and we’ll do our best to put everything Apple announces into practice as soon as possible.
